Challenge Rules
"Shells"
BQE invites the members of its sponsoring guilds to participate in this special challenge. This year’s theme is Shells. Take your inspiration from our beautiful beaches, a special shell collection, a beautiful fabric or just your imagination and enter the challenge with a quilt that features at least one shell visible in the body of the quilt.
There are endless possibilities, so put your imagination to work. We have no fabric requirements but there are a few rules.
Requirements are:
1Size is 24” wide by 30” high, plus or minus 1 inch. The format is Portrait.
2It must be a standard quilt, 3 layers, quilted and bound. Each entry should have a 4” sleeve and a label on the back.
3At least one shell must be clearly visible in the body of the quilt.
4Only one entry per person.
5The BQE Challenge is open to any member of the 5 Broward County Guilds: Coral Springs, East Sunrise, Quilting in the Pines, Southern Stars or West Broward.
6Use the regular BQE entry form for your challenge quilt. There is no entry fee. Delivery information will be the same as for all other BQE quilts.
Challenge Quilts will be judged on theme interpretation, construction and overall appearance. Cash prizes will be awarded. Challenge quilts are eligible for Viewer’s Choice Award. Honorable Mention ribbons will be awarded.
Permanently attach your name to the back of the quilt and whip stitch a piece of muslin over the label. Place the quilt in a pillow case bag with your name, address and phone number clearly marked on the bag. Deliver your entry as instructed on the entry form.
