Mini Auction Guidlines

Making a miniature to be auctioned at BQE 2011 is a wonderful opportunity to make money for your guild. It is also an opportunity for you to do something a bit different from your usual work…embellish a pictorial or a landscape, do something really small scale, etc. Please do your best quality work to bring in the best prices for your guild. There are no limitations on how many miniatures you may donate! Enjoy the process!!

Mini auction guidelines:

1Maximum size is 96” perimeter. There is no minimum size.

2May be pieced or appliquéd, or a combination of the two. May be embellished with beads, threads, etc.

3Whole cloth designs are acceptable, but no single block quilts (no potholders!).

4 Crazy patch Mini’s are acceptable.

5Landscapes and pictorials are acceptable.

6May be hand or machine quilted, but not tied (with the exception of a crazy quilt, which is traditionally embellished and tied).

7Must be clean and free of pencil marks, stains, pet hairs, etc.

8Must be bound on all edges.

9 Please add a hanging sleeve where applicable. The person who buys your Mini expects to go home and hang it up.

10Please make sure your finished quilt includes a label with your name, your guild affiliation and BQE 2011.

11Click here for the Miniature Auction Entry Form  which must be filled out and turned in with the Mini. The information may be entered online and printed to attach to your entry. Please fill out completely, the auctioneer may be good at auctioning, but know little about quilts. Give as much information as possible that can be used to bring the best price and more money for your guild.

12 All miniature quilts must be approved by the Mini Quilt Auction Committee. The quilts will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons based on viewer’s choice voting at the quilt show. If you so choose, your Mini can also be entered in the BQE show before the auction and must be turned in at quilt collection with both entry forms filled out completely.

Auction Mini quilts must be turned in to your guild representative by your February guild meeting for your quilt to be listed in the 2011 BQE Showbook.

Of course, we will accept Minis for the auction right up till Noon on Sunday March 20, 2011 at the War Memorial.

If you have any questions about the Mini auction or your Mini entry, please feel free to call Sally Moon at 954-370-0176.
