2019 Workshop Offerings
We are delighted to be bringing two inspiring instructors to BQE next year.
Tara Faughnan is a professional freelance textile designer and quilter living and working in Oakland, CA. Ms. Faughnan’s quilts are known for their vibrant and harmonious use of color, and have appeared in many national and regional shows including the International Quilt Festival (Houston), American Quilter’s Society (Paducah), Pacific International Quilt Festival, and QuiltCon. She served as a judge for QuiltCon 2018. She has filmed two quilting classes for Creative Bug. And she has been published in many magazines including Art Quilts International, Modern Patchwork, Generation Q, and QuiltCon Magazine.
Jean Wells has been quilting for over 45 years, and teaching others to quilt for more than three decades. She has written more than 30 quilting books and published many, many patterns. Her latest book, Intuitive Color & Design: Adventures in Art Quilting, was published in July 2017. In 1974, she opened The Stitchin' Post in her hometown of Sisters, OR. It is quite possible that it is the oldest quilt shop in the United States. Ms. Wells is also a founding member of the annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, which attracts an average annual attendance of over 12,000 visitors, and displays more than 1,300 quilts from around the world.
Jean Wells will be teaching one two-day workshop entitled Outside the Lines, which was inspired by the quilts of Gee's Bend. She will also be doing two lectures during BQE - these will be announced soon.
Tara Faughnan will be treating us to three workshops - Big Stitch Hand Quilting on Monday, Creating Complex Quilts From Simple Shapes on Tuesday, and Color Interaction: Playing With Solids on Wednesday.
We hope that you are as excited as we are about learning from these two quilting masters.
