Quilt Sales at Broward Quilt Expo


For the first time in our show history, we will be making quilts available for sale at Broward Quilt Expo. We will be presenting a beautiful retail sales booth where quilts will be displayed on custom-built racks. Visitors will be invited to browse a selection of handmade quilts created by the members of the six BQE guilds. Quilts in all styles, from traditional to modern, will be available for purchase.

In addition, entrants in our show’s judged competition will be invited to make their quilts available for sale. This option is open to all entries, regardless of guild membership.

We are very excited about giving the public this opportunity to purchase a unique item which we hope will give warmth and beauty to their families for generations to come.

Quilt Sales Terms & conditions



  1. Quilts entered for judging in the show may be made available for sale. No guild affiliation is required.

  2. Quilts submitted for consignment in our Quilt Sales booth must be made by a member (or members) of one of the six guilds which sponsor BQE. Member(s) must be in good standing at the time of the 2019 show.

  3. Quilts must be 3 layers and quilted (front, batting, backing, layers secured by stitches).

  4. Quilts must be complete, clean and free of odors and pins.

  5. Quilts must be made by the consignor.

  6. Quilts must be permanently labelled with maker(s) name(s). (Sign your work! We also strongly advise adding a quilt name, date and place, but this is up to you.)


  1. The consignment fee must be paid in advance, and a consignment agreement must be completed. The deadline for registration of quilts for sale is Friday February 8, 2019 at midnight.

  2. Minimum selling price is $75. No maximum.

  3. Quilts must be bagged. Standard clear plastic bags will be made available to guilds in January.

  4. Quilts must have a sales tag attached with a closed safety pin, located next to the quilt label on the back of the quilt. Tags will be provided to guilds in January.

  5. Quilts requiring special handling will not be accepted. Quilts will be hung or folded on a rack for display, and may be handled (under supervision) by potential buyers.

  6. Makers are responsible for insuring their items, BQE will not be responsible for loss or damage.

Fees & Payments

  • Quilts entered into the show do not not have to pay an additional consignment fee.

  • For all other quilts, a non-refundable handling fee of $10 per quilt is applicable.

  • Consignment fee: 15% of the selling price of the quilt (before sales tax).

  • Consignors will be paid by check no later than March 30.

Collection & Return

  • Quilts for consignment will be accepted on Quilt Collection Day (February 11), at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard

    Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.

  • Unsold quilts will be available for collection on Quilt Return Day (March 11), at the War Memorial Auditorium, 2867, 800 NE 8th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.

  • Guilds are encouraged to nominate an individual or committee to collect all quilts for redistribution to their members.
