12th Biennial Quilt Show Thursday March 14 – Saturday, March 16, 2013

 

Big plans are already underway for the upcoming Broward Quilt Expo at the War Memorial Auditorium, 800 NE 8th St., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304.  Classes have been announced and vendors are being contacted.  Sponsors are lining up, and we are working on exciting new ideas for the mini-quilt auction. The theme is friendship, so get started now on your beautiful quilts.  Make plans with your quilting friends to attend the lecture and show and sign up for a workshop.  Check our website often for more information as plans develop.

2013 Workshops Announced

We are pleased to announce that Flavin Glover and Joyce Becker will be the featured teachers at the next Broward Quilt Expo show and marketplace.

Joyce Becker will teach a 2-day workshop where students design an original Here Chickee, Chickee, Chickee landscape quilt, using Joyce's original quilt as the model

Flavin Glover will teach 2 1-day workshops

  • Colorful and Creative Log Cabin Diamonds which is for the experienced quilter ready to create blocks full of color that look three-dimensional
  • Kaleidoscope Patchwork which takes another look at basic Kaleidoscope blocks to see new design possibilities.

Debbie Jones will join us again for a 1/2 day workshop Butterfly Bouquet Wallhanging using her fabric decollage technique.

Festivities Abound

The festivities will begin with the lecture and trunk show Wednesday evening, March 13, 2013 at 7 pm at ArtServe. 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard (across Holiday Park from the War Memorial or north on US-1 to the corner of NE 14th Avenue).

Joyce Becker will speak on "Leaping Past Fear and Discovering Your Own Niche".   Through her own journey to self-discovery and creativity, she provides insightful and inspirational methods to help quilters eliminate fear and build self-esteem.  Her goal is to help quilters discover their own capacity for creativity.  Joyce encourages quilters to listen to their dreams and follow their hearts.
